Welcome to my blog! I set it up last week but I've been fiddling around with it and wanted to finish fiddling around with it before actually using it but I got impatient. I am still working on modding Zonelets a bit to suit my needs (automatically updating the script, RSS, an ill-advised custom markdown interpreter, and, ideally, a tagging system) but what is currently on my site is just the vanilla version. With the most boring of the default themes, in fact. I have no idea what I want my site to look like, no vision, so I'm just defaulting to my horrible inclination toward flat minimalism. The only thing I've added is an RSS feed, which, for this first post, I did manually but hopefully I'll have automated by the next one. Sorry if there are more test posts in the near future.
Probably anyone reading this either followed me on cohost or personally knows me, so I would feel silly introducing myself. I don't plan on using this for microblogging like I occasionally did on Cohost - I might talk about my life but probably only actual significant stuff. I want to see if I can regularly write about indie comics, because there's a lot of really good little stuff out there that'll never get seen unless people talk about it. I have a habit of half-writing my thoughts on stuff I'm interested in and then never finishing or sharing them because I don't think anyone will want to read them but hopefully having a blog for the express purpose of just going on about whatever I feel like will get me to actually finish and post stuff. Not just about comics, just whatever I feel like.
Speaking of indie comics and significant events in my life, the weekend before last was SPX, the Small Press eXpo, and I went, of course, like I have been doing for years. It's an indie comics convention (the oldest one still running in the US!) that my parents started taking me to as a kid, and it's largely responsible for my obsession with weird little comics now. It's one of my favorite times of the year, and I got a lot of great stuff, including new comics by favorite cartoonists of mine like The Last Delivery by Evan Dahm and Girl Juice by Benji Nate (nothing by Leo Fox because I already his new stuff preordered, but I did bring my copies of My Body Unspooling and Boy Island to get signed) and ones new to me like Thunder & Lightning by Kimberly Wang and Unended by Josh Bayer. For now I have only finished some of them but I want to write a post highlighting some of my favorite stuff I got there in the near future. Also, SPX happened to be just a couple days after my partner's birthday, so I got them some stuff there - it's the perfect place to do that trick where you get someone else something that you want too so you can enjoy it. (I also got them a blu ray and a soda maker they really wanted)
Anyway that's all I've got for now. You can follow my blog on your favorite RSS reader for more if I do remember to regularly update this blog. I might not lol.
